I often get questions from prospective clients about how to work together and how to get started. Below, I have outlined some of my frequently asked questions for your clarity and ease of mind. If you don’t find the answer you’re looking for, please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
1. When is the best time to take newborn photos?
A baby will only be new once, which is what makes newborn photography so important. Typically, photos are done within the first 8-14 days of a baby’s life. So my recommendation is do it when they are 8-10 days old. If you don’t get photos done during that crucial time, you miss the window, and will not be able to regain that time again. Looking back, the biggest thing I hear from second-time parents is that they regret not getting newborn photos done when they had the chance.
2. Why should I invest in newborn photos?
Although getting pictures done so soon after your baby’s birth is the farthest thing from your mind, the pictures truly do appreciate with time. As a photographer, my job is to not only capture those moments, but to make them so timeless that when you pass by that image many years later, it will remind you of just how precious your baby was.
3. What is the process for getting newborn photos done?
For every client that comes in for studio photography, time and effort is put into ensuring that you get the most out of your session. I can come up with newborn photo ideas, including, which props and backdrops to use, generate maternity picture ideas, and coordinate family photography in studio or offsite. Since I can offer so much to my clients, the end result is a product that is artistic, genuine and entirely unique.
4. Is your price negotiable?
There’s a lot that happens behind the scenes of a newborn photography session. I need 4 hands to assist me in prepping your child, and ensuring that safety precautions are met. The session takes at least 2 hours, plus all the post production editing that occurs. Therefore, due to the time, labour and post production work, my prices are non-negotiable.
5. What do I need to bring?
Nothing. I provide a wide assortment of props, costumes and accessories for your newborn session. My clients will occasionally bring a sentimental object that they would like to incorporate into the shoot. I also work with some incredible partners such as bakers, custom made children’s clothiers and makeup artists, in case you need some resources.
6. What else do you offer?
In addition to the investment of photography, I work with clients to create photo albums, heirloom canvas prints, gallery wraps and more. I can visit with you at your home, go through all the images, and help you select what images would look best, and where.
