In this blog post, we’ll walk you through what to expect when you choose Lil’ One Photography for your maternity photoshoot, ensuring a seamless, enjoyable, and memorable experience.
The Countdown Begins
The excitement begins as we eagerly await the arrival of your little one. The process starts with a phone call, a chance for us to get to know you, discuss your due date, and understand your preferences for the photoshoot. This initial conversation also involves securing your session with a deposit, giving you priority scheduling between 24 to 32 weeks. As your booked date approaches, we provide a you with a detailed questionnaire to answer to gather your input, allowing us to tailor the session to your unique preferences.
Session Details
Your maternity photoshoot can take place in our cozy home studio, a studio of your choice (additional fees may apply), or even outdoors – the decision is entirely yours. A pre-session style and concept consultation further ensure we understand your vision and wishes for the shoot. You might also be considering adding on a newborn photoshoot – if you’ve opted to do so, your deposit secures your place in line, offering priority scheduling once your bundle of joy arrives (ideal between two to three weeks after birth).
Preparing for the Shoot
To enhance your experience, we offer luxurious inclusions for moms-to-be, including professional hair and makeup services and access to a studio wardrobe featuring maternity gowns, bodysuits, and jewelled pieces.
Our dresses are unique in their design, textures, textiles and style. We offer a wide array of maternity gowns – both simplistic and fancy. Some are lace, tulle and other see through fabrics that specifically showcases the belly, the mommy to be, her expecting body and femininity.
We also have dresses for our more conservative clients which are made from thicker fabrics that complement many different body types. These dresses are not too revealing, yet they highlight the belly in a more modest, but still very feminine nature.
Some of our dresses are very lavish and luxurious, and many of them have been ordered from Germany by a famous maternity dress designer, K.H Fashion. Many are one-of-a-kind and specially customized for our studio under strict design and supervision of our maternity photographer, Maria.
We don’t only offer gowns and dresses, we offer a variety of bodysuits, leotards, silks, flowy robes, tunics, panty hose, jackets, jewellery and even shoes. Our clients can literally roll into our studio in their pajamas and we will glam them, style them and dress them for every look and every photo.
We want you to feel like an absolute queen, so we’ll coordinate your look with our expert makeup and hair team and stylists. All you have to do is show up.
Before the session, take a moment to consider any particular expectations or special requirements you may have. Additionally, think about who will be present at the photoshoot, ensuring that your session reflects your unique vision. These are important aspects to think about beforehand so you can feel at ease on the day of your photoshoot.
Maternity Session
Our skilled team will guide you through multiple looks and creative poses during your private, two-hour photoshoot. Trust us; we warm up even the shyest of expectant mothers! Should you join us at our home studio, it is set to a comfortable temperature, and we take good care to ensure you are resting between takes.
It is an absolute privilege to photograph you, and it comes naturally to us to bring out both your inner and outer beauty. We strive to create an environment where you feel comfortable and empowered, allowing your personality to shine through in each photograph.
Your Reveal Session
Following the completion of your session, we schedule a Zoom video call for your reveal session. This is when you get to see your photos and select the ones you love. Taking place approximately three to four weeks after your session, this step allows you to take your time and make informed decisions about the portraits you wish to purchase. We also offer premium heirloom products – books, canvas portraits and more – so that you can proudly (or privately) display your work of art.
While the final decision rests entirely with you, we are here to guide and assist you every step of the way through your selections. Your chosen images will be ready for you six to eight weeks after deciding upon your package.
